Yukari is the heroine of the story, a high school student who is tired of the meaningless and repetitive life that has been forced upon her by her uptight mother. In an interview in the January, 2007 issue of Newtype USA , director Osamu Kobayashi revealed many of the personal decisions which went into restructuring the manga into a television series.
